Doragon Foundation

School-based martial arts education for all

The Doragon Foundation offers weekly classes for students ages 3 and up, summer camps. Throughout the year we work with municipal, general and specialized schools and dojos, offering courses, projects and workshops to improve the curriculum. The Doragon Foundation is more than a martial arts club, We are a family. We are here to be inclusive and accepting, to support and strengthen each other, to celebrate the progress and achievement of our members, and to recognize that everyone learns at their own pace. We use positive reinforcement in our teaching and constantly show and encourage respectful behavior among students, coaches, instructors, and family members. Our students come from many different home backgrounds. We accept neuro-diversity and all of our classes are accessible to all levels of physical ability. Just let us know if you need additional support, if you are concerned about something, or if we can help you and make changes to support you. The Doragon Foundation and Doragon Martial Arts Dojos was established in 2010 by Jose Fabra and Diana Stirbu as a social enterprise. This means that we are focused on improving the lives of our students, we are affordable and independent. We live by our values. All of the benefits we get go toward providing summer classes and camps for children and youth who would not otherwise have access to such things. We have been working, providing sports scholarships and raising money for the Doragon Foundation. Our Approach: Our classes are based on Kick Boxing Self Defense with a focus on: Practical Self ProtectionSelf Confidence WorkSocial SkillsStrengthStaminaDiscipline Self DisciplineRespectHonestyPull Attention Our students also gain awareness of the Kobudo, the art of traditional Okinawan weapons, because we discovered that it helps our students to understand our martial art if they appreciate the culture from which it comes. We bring our pop-up dojo to your school environment and offer classes that enhance the curriculum and adapt to the individual needs and abilities of your students. We develop their self-confidence, we develop positive social interaction, and we encourage physical fitness and life skill goal setting for everyone.

Doragon Foundation is a project developed directly from the Foundation School of Martial Arts curriculum that provides an introduction to the world of traditional martial arts through a mix of culture, movement, self defense and fun. These classes also introduce students to the values on which the Foundation is based: Family (kazoku), Health (kenko), Respect (sonkei), Joy (yorokobi), Honesty (shojiki), Communication (tsushin) and Heart / Mind / Sprit (kokoro)

The program is divided into 6 weeks, and each week focuses on a different key theme along with the regular sections of the class that are part of each week. Developed for 10-20 participants, the content is designed for students ages 4-11 with each weekly session focused on a particular topic that can be tailored to the needs / abilities of the participants.
