Dojo rules

Dojo Guidelines and Student Agreement The dojo is a place of learning, a school, and a home. It is really important to us that all students and guests respect the space and understand the tradition, etiquette, and current expectations. As a Foundation student you are expected to: Show respect by bowing to each other when you train. Be loyal and give your friends a second chance. Be friendly and particularly welcoming to new members. Be supportive and committed to other students, offering comfort when necessary. Stay safe and report inappropriate behaviors or risky situations. Play fair, be trustworthy, respect instructors and accept decisions. Show proper loyalty, be polite in defeat, and respect your opponents. cheating or being violent and aggressive. Make the dojo a fun place to be. Behave and listen to all instructors' instructions. Take care of the club team. Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all participants, regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religious beliefs, or sexual identity Refrain from the use of profanity or racial / sectarian references. This includes bullying using new technologies. Not engaging in inappropriate peer pressure and pushing others into something they don't want to do. Refraining from bullying or using rough and dangerous games. The Dojo All students must bow (face the dojo) when entering and leaving the dojo. Students must wear shoes if they leave the dojo to go to the bathroom or to drink water. Shoes are not allowed on the tatami at any time. Families and siblings are always welcome in the dojo, but should not disturb the lesson or distract students in any way. Only students participating in the class are allowed on the mats. The only drink allowed in the dojo is water, no carbonated or sugary drinks please. No sweets, chips, or fast food allowed in the dojo. No food or drink of any kind is allowed on or near carpets. Clothing All adult and junior students (age 7 ) are expected to wear the (official Doragon uniform) for training. Does not apply to new entrants, see classes for details. All uniforms must be cleaned regularly between classes. Personal Hygiene and Illness All students with long hair must be kept in a safe place. Fingernails and toenails must be clean and short. All earrings and jewelry must be removed before the start of class. feel bad should not train. Any student recovering from illness should wait a minimum of 48 hours before returning to class. We have a unique approach to scoring across all of our Doragon Foundation classes that has been refined and developed as we have grown. Our grading process allows us to recognize and reward progress where needed and support all of our students. For our Kids and Juniors students we monitor attendance and when they reach 20 consecutive classes we mark them for evaluation. Initial assessments are based on qualification criteria and the professional judgment of our instructors. We will observe and challenge students when necessary by testing their knowledge and application. If we believe a student is ready, we will grade them at the next available opportunity. As our Junior students advance further into the advanced Junior grades, we ask of you more in terms of training time, discipline and responsibility. This transition helps them prepare for the more demanding aspects of becoming an Advanced Junior student. (Orange Belt) is also the first opportunity that students will have to work on their assessment of Junior Junior Assistant - Fuku Shidōin (副 指導員). Adult and advanced students have a more demanding grading process as the expectation we have of them increases. We have formal graduations on set dates throughout the year. This is a much more traditional process with advanced adult and youth students being assessed individually through a closed assessment in front of the instructors.
